2729 | Lon H. Pressnall, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Pressnall, was born Oct. 1, 1868 in Henry County, Indiana and passed away March 16, 1957, at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 16 days. He was one of fifteen children, nine of whom grew to maturity. His father preceded him in death in 1918 and his mother in 1934. When he was a very small boy he came to Republic County Kansas in a covered wagon. He, along with the family of six sons and three daughters, endured the hardships of of a rugged pioneer life. Most of his early life was lived on the home farm south of Rose Creek Chapel Church. On Feb. 17, 1897, he was united in marriage to Clara O. Brown. They started housekeeping on his own farm where they always lived southeast of Chester until he retired from active work in 1922. Their family of three sons and two daughters were all born and reared in their original home. Their children were William, John V. Lulla, Harley and Fern. After leaving the farm, they moved to Chester where he resided until the past year. His wife preceded him in death in July 1944. Also one son, John V. of Winfield, Kans., in 1940. He was a member of the Chester Christian Church and always enjoyed attending the services as long as his health permitted. He enjoyed very good health all his life until a year ago when he required surgery. Since that time he has been cared for in the home of his two daughters, the home of Merton Pressnall of Munden, Kans., and the Blue Valley Home in Hebron. He was a patient there for the past five months. "Gramps" as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren and friends will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a familiar figure on the streets of Chester, as his walks were one of his favorite pastimes. He is survived by two sons, William Pressnall of Beatrice, Harley Pressnall of Santa Ana, Calif., two daughters, Mrs. Lulla Frye of Byron and Mrs. Fern Smith of Cozad, two daughters-in-law Mrs. Mona Pressnall of Winfield, Ks., Mrs. Clara Pressnall of California, two sons-in-law, Clarence Frye, and Don Smith, one brother, Merton Pressnall of Munden, Ks., one sister, Mrs. Effie Smith of Hutchison, Kans., 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Included among the grandchildren is Mrs. Vernon Naysmith who helped so faithfully in caring for him in his last illness. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services were held from the Christian Church, Chester, Monday, March 18, Rev. Frank Perry officiating. A quartet, Mrs. Wilbert Crouse, Mrs. Melvin Crouse, Ernest Moxham and Kenneth Messman, sang accompanied by Mrs. Ray Truss. Pallbearers were Verne Frye, Larry Reed, Lonnie Pressnall, Dean Pressnall, Willis Naysmith and Keith Frye. Interment was made in the Chester cemetery (sic). | Pressnall, Leonidas Hamilton (I12506)

2739 | Many genealogies claim that James who married Sarah Harvey was the son of James (b. 1708), however we can be reasonably sure that James (husband of Sarah Harvey) was the son of Jacob. He served in the Bedford County Virginia Militia during the French and Indian War. His wife Sarah Harvey, was the daughter of Michael Harvey, a member of Jacob's Good Creek Quakers moving to old Rowan-Randolph County before 1760. James became a large land owner in Randolph County and one of the leading citizens. He was Judge on the Little River. He left Randolph County in 1805. | Presnell, James (I5930)

2743 | Marble Hill Press, Marble Hill, Bollinger, Missouri, December 24, 1902 Miss Jennie Limbaugh, daughter of Joseph and Susan Limbaugh, was buried in the home cemetery December 10, 1902. Deceased was born August 3, 1878, and died December 4, 1902, making her 24 years, 4 months and 1 day old. She had been a sufferer for a year but bore her afflictions patiently. When her disease had baffled the skill of home physicians, she sought the more genial climate of California, accompanied by her brother Arthur, but it was of no avail; God, who doeth all things well, took her to live with Him, where pain and disease are unknown. She had united with the Evangelical Lutheran Churchsome months before here death, and gave full assurance of an abiding faith in the atoning blood of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jennie leaves a mother, four brothers and one sister to mourn her departure, but her Savior is also their Savior, therefore they can meet her again. It is attested by all who knew her that she had a smile only for everybody. Her pleasant face can never be seen again in this world, and her place in her family can never be filled, but know this, she has clasped the hand of her sister Hattie who preceded her in the blissful shores a few months, and together they are singing hallelujah to the Lamb that taketh away the sin of the world. 2744 | Marble Hill Press, Marble Hill, Bollinger, Missouri, July 16, 1902 Died, at the home of her mother, Mrs. Susan F. Limbaugh, July 1, 1902, Miss Hattie A. Limbaugh, aged 19 years, 9 months and 28 days. Such was the sad intelligence which but recently has bowed in sorrow so many hearts in the community where the deceased was known and loved. By her gentleness, her Christian character, her sweet charity and her helpfulness she had won a place in the affections of all who knew her, and her memory will live with us and her name be cherished by us while the heart beats and memory is true to her office. Hattie had been confined to her room most of the time the last six months. On February 23, 1902, she had to undergo a surgical operation which she stood so well. Then everyone thought the time of recovery was near, but alas, it was the reverse to that. The dreaded disease formed on her lungs and recovery became impossible. She passed away shouting "I am going to rest." Hattie, with her two sisters, united with the Lutheran Church July 3, 1902. She leaves a mother, two sisters, four brothers to mourn their loss. The funeral was preached by Rev. C. C. Lyerly, pastor of the Lutheran Church, and her remains were laid to rest by the side of her father in the Limbaugh Cemetery. | Limbaugh, Hattie Isabella (I14756)
