3022 OMAHA - Robert J. “Bob” Sus. Aug 16, 1955 - March 22, 2011. Age 55 of Omaha; retired Omaha Fire Dept. Captain and Paramedic. Bob died after a 7-month battle with cancer. He was a proud member of the Omaha Fire Dept. for over 20 years, spending most of his time at ‘61’s.’ He was a paramedic and was a Captain at the time of his retirement almost four years ago. Bob loved his job as well as the men and women he was proud to work with. He was in the Navy Reserve and was activated and served during Operation Desert Storm as a paramedic in Iraq. Bob was the kind of guy you always turned to when you had a problem. He could fix anything and do just about whatever he set his mind to. He was a private pilot and loved to take people flying with him. He was the fun uncle with all the great toys to play with, from dune buggies to boats to 4-wheelers. His whole life was centered, not around him, but all the others in his life. He found his joy in helping others, no matter what.
Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents and aunts. He is survived by his parents, Joe and Mary Ann; sisters, Kathy Sus Spitsen (Jim), Nancy Langenfeld (Gene); nephews, Joe, Nick and Matt; nieces, Rachel and Elise; girlfriend, Patty Milstead and her children: Heather, John, Kevin and Brian; uncles, Vern and Bill; cousins.
