2765 | Martha Pressnall, born, 27 Mar 1683, in Dartford, Kent Co., England. The marriage of Martha Presnal and George Coleman was recorded in Christ Church, Middlesex County, Virginia. The Church required all vital records be recorded in the church; this does not necessarily mean that they were married "In" the Church. Martha and George moved to Essex County, Virginia. George died in 1722 and Martha remarried in 1723 to John Hoskin. 2768 | Martin Thomas Presnall was called, "Tommy". He was a merchant in McLennan County, Texas, and later in life was County Treasurer for McLennan County, Texas. He had 2 brothers, and 2 sisters: Elijah, Jimmy, Elizabeth Ann, and Sallie. Tommy's father was Caleb Calvin Presnall, of Clarke County, Alabama. He was in the Confederate Army during the Civil War and was seriously wounded. Tommy's mother was Phoebe Ann McAddin. She died while Caleb was away during the Civil War, leaving 5 yound children. When Caleb was released from a POW camp, he came home to take care of his kids. Later, he re-married, and had another set of children. It's an interesting story, and has been recorded for us in a memoir by Annie, who was one of the second set of children. | Presnall, Martin Thomas (I3910)

2770 | Mary Ann Jaixen, daughter of Joseph & Theresa Jaixen was born July 9, 1946 at Columbus. Mary Ann Grew up in the Tarnov area and graduated from St. Francis High School in Humphrey. Mary Ann married Morris Frey on June 27, 1964 in Tarnov. After their marriage they lived in Humphrey until 1972 when they moved to Fremont. Mary Ann and Morris had three daughters and one son. Mary Ann worked for Jerri Paulson, Save-Mart and at Pendelton Woolen Mills. Mary Ann lost a battle with cancer November 2, 1998. She was only 52 years old. 2771 | Mary Hurst, born in Ohio before auto's, buses and only limited rail transportation, moved across Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and to eastern Iowa, to marry just prior to her 15th birthday, 21 year old James Presnell. In the next 20 years, she gave birth to 10 children. Eight children were born in five different counties of Iowa and two in the state of Kansas. There must have been endless hours, half of the time pregnant, tending small children as she traveled behind horses or oxen through much of the mid-west. Three of the children did not live beyond three years of age. She was widowed at the age of 45, with at least four children still at home, the youngest 11 years old. Two of the younger children, James Frederick and James William, went on to graduate from the University of Iowa medical school and became doctors. 2774 | Max Haak, 78, of Drakes Branch, Va., died Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at his daughter's home in Palatka after a short illness. The Bruning, Neb., native had lived in Drakes Branch for the past 27 years, coming from Palatka, where he lived for eight years. He had worked for eight years as an elevator mechanic with Hudson Pulp & Paper and retired after 20 years with the U.S. Navy, having been a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his wife: Eva Haak; parents: William and Ella Haak; two brothers: Rex Haak and Keith Haak; and a sister: Jean Loomer. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Tom Sykes of Palatka; and Donna and Todd Friesner of Perrysburg, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law: Jerry and Connie Haak of San Mateo; sister: Shyla Blasing of Sunnyvale, Calif.; brother: Orval Haak of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren: Michelle Haak, Jennifer Haak, Christopher Haak, Angela Strama, Joy Sykes-Johns, T.J. Sykes, Lee Sykes, Alex Friesner and Jacob Friesner; four great-grandchildren; his favorite outlaw: Sandra Marker of Green Bay, Va.; and special friends: Linard and Barbara Bayne of Fort Mitchell, Va. | Haak, Max (I6195)
