    OBITUARY
    Carol Ann Krings, 80, formerly of Fremont, Nebraska, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the Taylor House on Des Moines's east side.
    Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016, 11am, at Grandview Park Funeral Home with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9am at the funeral home with family greeting friends from 10 to 11am on Saturday.
    She was born June 14, 1936 in Humphrey, Nebraska. Two years later the family moved to Fremont, where she spent the next 76 years before moving to Pleasant Hill, Iowa in 2015. Carol graduated from Bergan High School in 1954. She worked at Arbor Manor as a nurse's aide for 26 years.
    Carol was a devoted mother to her daughter Kathy. She never met a stranger, she loved to talk to people, she loved going to the casino and shopping.
    Carol is survived by her sister Gloria (Clint) Presnell, sister in law Diane (Dick) Krings, daughter Kathy (Kraig) Kramme, granddaughter Courtney (Marcus) Thompson, grandson Kyle Kramme, great grandson Cooper Thompson and many nieces and nephews.

    Around July of 1884 they came to Winona Minnesota. He and Mr. Carl Hillis opened a wine saloon at 74 East 3rd Street. Around the middle of April, 1885, he left this saloon and in company with James McDonald, they bought the saloon and billiard parlor of Mr. Thomas Lichtenberger on the corner of 2nd and Lafayette Streets (789 East 2nd). About Nov 1st 1885, he severed his connection with this saloon and engaged his services to Mr. Charles Noctin the cigar maker, as a travelling salesman. In the 1886 City Directory, there is a listing for Mrs. Hattie Westphal (Hedwig Schuetz) at 116 East Broadway. Their previous address had been at 116 East 2nd. James McDonald was a boarder at 71 Lafayette Street. There are no names in the 1883-1884 Directory. The 79 East 2nd location is now occupied by a vacant building, fairly new. The Hille Saloon location at 74 East 3rd is now vacant, next to the Walgreen agency store at 78 East 3rd. O
